At the murder trial of Quebecois Neil and Brent Stewart, the Crown prosecutor grilled 2 sisters on the last meal of the murdered man, father to the defendants. Ms. Rebertz testified that she served barley soup, remnants of which were found in the deceased's stomach. Ms. Rebertz was adamant about her soup recipe ingredients, saying, "Barley soup at my house, it doesn't matter whether it's today, tomorrow or next year, has barley and carrots."

Although iguana are protected in many countries, in Nicaragua only the green iguana is protected, and even then not from December 1st through March 31st.
